EQUIP People are seeking an experienced Fabrication Welder / Sheet Metal Fabricator to join a busy engineering workshop based in Christchurch.
This is a hands-on workshop role suited to someone confident working with sheet metal, fabrication drawings, and MIG/TIG welding processes.
The work includes a mix of production and custom fabrication projects, offering good variety day to day.
Duties may include:
- Fabricating sheet metal components from drawings and specifications
- MIG and/or TIG welding across mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium
- Folding, forming, assembling, and finishing fabricated parts
- Working with laser-cut materials ready for fabrication
- Grinding, fitting, and preparing completed components
- Supporting general workshop production and fabrication tasks
- Maintaining safe and tidy workshop practices
This role starts as a temporary assignment with strong long-term potential for the right person.
What We're Looking For
- Proven fabrication and welding experience
- Strong sheet metal fabrication background
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings
- Confident MIG and/or TIG welding skills
- Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Reliable, practical, and safety focused
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically fit and comfortable in a workshop environment
